At Harmony at Savannah, located in Savannah, Georgia, it really is a party every day. One resident, Anna, got the chance to take that party to the next level, and become a party animal.
In recent years, the baseball teams the Savannah Bananas and the Party Animals have brought energy and excitement to the Harmony at Savannah community. This is due to a personal connection made by Harmony at Savannah's Life Enrichment Director, Elinor Campbell.
“The connection with the Savannah Bananas and Party Animals kind of fell into our laps during COVID, thanks to a friend of a friend,” Campbell said. “They were looking to fill some of the players’ downtime, and we were more than happy to welcome them into our community. What started as a one-time visit in 2021 has turned into an annual tradition and a beautiful inter generational bond.”
What has blossomed from this connection is something truly special. The baseball players have been able to spend time with the seniors and take them on adventures.
Savannah Bananas and Party Animals superfan, Anna, was able to go on an adventure with the Party Animals earlier this season.
After forming a connection with Anna during the off season when they took her to get her nails done and enjoy ice cream, the Party Animals decided they wanted to put a smile on her face once again. This time–by bringing her to a real Savannah Bananas vs. Party Animals game.
Adorned in Party Animals merchandise, Anna made her way to her first ever Savannah Bananas vs. Party Animals baseball game, where she was warmly greeted by the players before the game. As the game began, Anna got to sit in the dugout to have a close look at both the game and the dancing players. Cheering the Party Animals on the entire time, Anna left the game with a smile as her team pulled out the win. The players said goodbye to Anna, their lucky charm of the night, with a big hug as they parted ways.
