CHARLESTON, SC (September 14, 2026) – Harmony Senior Services communities across the region are celebrating National Assisted Living Week (NALW) September 13-19, 2026 with a spirited, western-themed celebration titled “How the West Was Fun!”. The weeklong event invites residents, family members, team members, and local communities to come together for themed activities, laughter, and meaningful connections.
Established by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in 1995, National Assisted Living Week provides an opportunity to recognize the important role assisted living communities play in supporting older adults and individuals with disabilities while celebrating the residents, caregivers, volunteers, and families who make these communities thrive.
At Harmony Senior Services, that celebration takes on a western flair through the company’s “How the West Was Fun!” Spirit Week, featuring daily dress-up themes designed to create joy, engagement, and memorable experiences for residents and team members alike. Developed by Harmony’s Vice President of Memory Care and Life Engagement, Amber Dahle, the activities include daily themes including “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “Friends in Low Places” (dress as a western duo), “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” (a nod to National Line Dancing Week which coincides with NALW), “The Gambler” (saloon and casino inspired games), and “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” (western glam with glitter and turquoise embellishments.)

Research and industry leaders note that National Assisted Living Week helps increase awareness of the benefits of assisted living while providing opportunities for residents to engage socially, strengthen relationships, and remain active withing their community.
